Fish &Chix and Riders' Cafe

i found a substitute for botak jones & ashtons! good when you dont feel like queueing. it is situated next to Sembawang Shopping Centre , good for me :D

It is afforadable, maybe a little less than Botok/Astons even. BF ordered Fish n Chips thinking it is the signature dish- it must be good. But it is ... not! Not as good as the grilled fish. Although the portion is good; the tase is crispy/fresh but just generally OK. The grilled fish is reallllly nice. nicer than Aston cause it is chunkier and juicier and sweeet. I gobbled it down in about 6 bites.
On a Saturday Morning, i.e. today, we woke up early to go Riders Cafe. It is nothing unique except it has horses walking past it. erm. because it is located at the Saddle Club. I was curious to experience it for myself after hearing colleagues mention it. hurhur. So i force BF to bring me there.

Ice Mocha was good; the sweet was just nice for me. Riders breakfast was good too. a tad expensive (for us)- but luckily the beans arent those kind from the cans. hurhur.

We had balcony seats which gave us an alternate view of the surroundings but we were baking under the sun too (despite the shades). kinda. esp when the clouds are not around.
I like their pancakes. it makes the Mac Hotcakes taste ... like flour in comparision. It is more fluffy and richer in taste. I guess you just gotta pay more for better stuff.

It is all about experiencing. So I guess I won't be going there again, not deliberately anyway. I had to make a reservation for today cause the last time I went there for breakfast- it was full and the next slot was 45 min later!

I do like the atmosphere. Very good to chill out and for a momemt, you almost dont think you are in Spore cause you are tucked away from the city.

After breakfast... we made a deliberate trip to buy muffins. hurhurhurhur. cause there is no other good time to buy muffins on the way/by the way. they operate 5.5 days just like office hours!!!!!
*drools*
Note to self= 6 more weeks before I can depart for HK. I just can't wait to break the routine of office life.

I Slipped

It has been 2 months and I slipped on the one of the timelines. The KM was quick to point finger & cc all the bosses.

OKAY. I know what that means. I could have say so many things but it will only make working life difficult and what is the point in that? it was a Good learning point. Painful mistakes makes me learn faster and feel like slapping that KM.

ANYWAY. I feel like going to BKK too. I wanna see the aftermath of their civil unrest. I wanna go there for the cheap food & shopping!

BUT... I'll just have to save $$ & go HK... in 1.5months time. I just wanna have a holiday.

I am not sure on how well i can deal with the S-team. I am not sure how much i want to stay at this place. =X I'll just weight my options along but definitely wont want to stay there for long! *shrug* maybe it is just not for me, not that it is a bad place.

Kukup Trip

It is my first trip to Kukup, JB, a mere 2h drive away from Spore. It is a good place for retreat and mahjong. But other than that, there is nothing you can do. Except sing KTV on inconsistent quality of videos (afterall, the resort bungalow is not a pro KTV place & they burn disc with fake MVs sigh). Or watch Msia's FTA channels.

Anyways, the weather looks gorgeous on the camera. Was just obsessed with taking photographs in sepia mode because it was so laid back and 80s. Probably it was even more backward than actual Spore 80s in terms of infrastructure. We were all scared of falling into the mangrove on which the houses are constructed upon.

We bought balloons and POP-POPs. I can blow balloons way way better now! Haha. Pop PoP is the tiny firecracker thing which you can throw and burst.

At KUKUP, they like to feed you every 4 hours! Food there was really good. How many items did we have in a span of 24 hours?

Lunch

About 5 dishes & 1 soup with rice. I just cant remember what we had. hurhur. goldfish memory on display. So, I guess it was tasty altho not very memorable. So we topped it up with Mango Crush Ice outside the bungalow.

Tea Break

6th item: Fried Dough Pancake with Prawn/Vegetable which was fried on the spot making it fresh & very crispy & yummy.

7th item: Green Bean Soup.

Dinner

8th item: BBQ Chicken Wing
9th item: BBQ Fish (so fresh & sweet, my absolute fave... drools. the sambal was fab too)

10th item: BBQ pork slices

11th: FishBall/Fish Cake

12tH: Chili Crabs

13th: Steam Prawns

14th: Veggies

15th: Fruits with Agar Agar.

After that, they even prepared SUPPER! And so
16th: tiny portion of nasi lemak rice with egg.

Breakfast

17th: Fried Bee Hoon

18th: SOya Bean Milk

19th: Fried Dough Fritters

20th: Fried Veg Bun

Lunch:

Another type of serving of

21st: Crab, Chilli

22nd: Prawns, Cereal

23rd: Veggie

24th: Toufu, Stir Fry

25th: Fish, Fried

26th: Pork, Sweet and Sour

and I topped it up with

27th; Fried Banana Balls. which is oily, tasty and fresh. and cheap. 5 pcs for 1RM. sigh.

And all of them gave me exasperated/incredulous looks when they know i am eating again... within my small frame. hahha.

so people. just go on low carb diet and u literally cant get fat... or toooo fat. anyway, balance diet helps!

Sometimes, hearing views from outsiders make a situation clearer. I realize I really shouldn't make life difficult for my bf. cause he literately cant be better to me. I should be lower maintenanice. HAAAAAA. I will try. But I can't say the success rates will be high.

Jap Food & Rochor Beancurd

Spent 8 hours in Universal Studio with colleagues as part of a team outing. Didnt get on all the rides. It was too hot. It made me miss Japan. :C
AFter that, went to Tonkichi at Suntec. First time there! was for there for a birthday dinner... We ordered A LOT of food cause we were so hungry... it was so late by the time we finally meet for dinner. is 8pm late? We are so poor things- keep complaining of being tired n hungry.

The Sashimi does look very appertising!

Forgot the proper name of this fried dish but it really was very well done. crispy & juicy- must try! Fried cutlets are their specialty.

We did have a lot of leftover. I ordered Soba & found the taste quite refreshing. The chawanmushi was a supposedly popular dish but we didnt like it alot. Ramen was good- the soup made it extra so. :D fried squid was too salty. generally a place which has hits & misses for us.
Prob wont got there again... hurhur.
Went to do my nails in JB. love the nude color! Did it partly coz we had a media event coming up & just want to be extra groomed for it. hurhur.

Took this nostagic photo @ King Albert Park. My appetite has definitely increased. I can finished the entire BBF (big break fast) NOW. erm. what is wrong with me?

I discovered I love Rochor Beancurd & its youtiao but dont like the grass jelly & I love the Selegie grass jelly but dont like its beancurd as much. Rochor youtiao makes a delicacy out of he flour and dough. so crispy, fragrant and yet not tooo oily.We deliberately went on a Sunday afternoon. hurhuhur.
Life is nvr perfect and we just gotta live with the imperfections, right? I worry about all the imperfections that I had created all the time, almost. I am ashamed that I created those imperfections... yah. i am taking about my screwups at work. the more screwups I have, the more i become insecure about my capabilities & the more stressed I become!
A vicious cycle. I just feel lousy... &... I think I shall practise mediating. thank god that i have a ever steady rock with me.

TGIF with BFF!

On a Monday, we went to TGIF. Kinda ironic.
We heard so much about the big portions that we decided to share one main course. So we ordered one main course and had the intention to save room for desert. Which looked pretty good.

But then,it just had to spring a surprise on us... the main course that we ordered wasnt big enough to share! Sigh! The chicken was tender and the shrimps were really fresh and sweet, too big this item was filling enough for a small Asian girl, but not for two.

So we ordered the chicken quesadillas! Again, it was not bad! The stuffing (chicken, cheese & tomato etc) was really solid. We were FULL thanks to it.

So, basically, the food was actually pretty good. So that it was a tad expensive. 30SGD plus for main course & drinks while it prob cost 20 SGD at cafe cartel & what is the difference at the end of the day?
& I simply love the lighting in Zara's fitting room. hurhurhurhurhurr.

126 Sims Avenue Dim Sum

Specially went eat Dim Sum @ 126 Sims Avenue which is open 24h. Apparently, they serve drinks in plastic bowls usually reserved for soup dishes/desert takeaways.

They have a lot a lot of varieties, maybe 50 types? All labeled with home taken pictures and handwriting in their handmade menu. Ordered shrimp dumpling, chicken feet, meat dumpling, char siew chee chong fun, carrot cake and glutinous rice.

Wasnt impressed with those above... just normal lor. But the fried carrot cake was really crispy, fragrant and yummyyyy.
Glutinous rice came with big piece of mushroom and chicken, so it wont taste jialet. :D

We still got so many varieties which we hadnt tried yet. Not sure when is the next time I'll be there. Any foodies wanna go with me?
